There are a variety of statutes that relate to consumer matters in Maine.
In many instances, a consumer will have a claim pursuant to Title 5, Chapter 10, Maine’s Unfair Trade Practices Act.  The act outlines unlawful acts and conduct, penalties and remedies.  An unfair trade practices act claim is often one of many claims that are included in a lawsuit against a business.
